Sweet Baby

I sure love this baby.  She is so good.  She is happy to sit and play now.  It won't be long and she'll be crawling after her sister and brothers.

Vampire Girl

Okay, so this post isn't all about vampires, but Grace loves, loves, loves to wear her vampire teeth.  Then, she'll chase her brothers around the house.  She was wearing her vampire teeth last night at Walmart.  She scared the two kids in front of us in line with her nice smile.
I love it when I can capture a smile on camera.  It seems like it's so hard to get it on film.

Our library does a story time each week.  Right before Christmas, Santa always makes a stop.  Last year Grace was terrified of the whole Santa thing.  This year, she was excited.  It was all she talked about for weeks.
She was excited that morning.  She was excited when Santa came out.  She was even excited when he walked by her and patted her head.  Not so excited when it was her turn to sit on his lap.  She wouldn't do it which is fine.  I just wish I would have known that before we waited in a long line.  She did agree to sit next to him (and no tears).

Here is Grace with her buddies.

 Yeah, another smile!

They had the most beautiful tree in a side room at the library.  I think next year I should bring my family to take a picture in front of this tree.

Here's Kade at his Christmas party with his buddy.  They made cute reindeers out of paper bags.
We made gingerbread houses again this year.  The kids love making them.  We entered them into the gingerbread house contest at our ward Christmas party.  We won several awards (Kade was one of the judges).

Cub Scout Awards

I just love Cub Scouts.  The kids look so cute in their little outfits.  They love going to their den meetings.  They always have so much fun with whatever they are doing.  Kade got to go to cub scouts long before he was old enough because I was a den leader.  Now that he is finally official - it's fun to see him earn his awards.

Josh is now officially out of Cub Scouts.  I can't believe that two of my boys are now too old for cub scouts.  The time just seems to fly.
Josh received his Arrow of Light Award.  He really worked hard and completed every single requirement in the webelos book.  Way to go Josh.  Gotta love his great leaders.

 Congratulations Josh!

Random Shots

We've had snow already.  It snowed once in November and once in December.  Highly unusual for around here.  We don't usually get snow until mid-January.
The boys were so disappointed because the roads were fine which meant that they had school.
This picture is pretty bad.  I was trying to take the picture myself of Megan as I was holding her.
As you can see, my rose bushes were still blooming and it snowed.
Megan loves her jumpy toy just like the rest of the kids.  She was jump, jump, jumping the other day and then she just stopped.  We looked over and she had just fallen asleep.  It's hard to be a busy baby.

Megan is starting to eat food.  She doesn't enjoy it as much as the boys did.  She only eats a little bit each time.  Notice no high chair.  Can you tell she is number five.  The high chair is still in the garage.
 Matching girls.
I think this picture is so funny.  Grace kept coming down the stairs one night after she was in bed.  I finally got after her for coming down so much.  So, I guess she didn't want to get caught coming down the stairs so she just was hanging out on the stairs.  She fell asleep on the stairs.  Looks comfy, doesn't it?

New Curtains

We've lived in our house for almost 2 years now and I am just finally getting curtains in my living room.  I am such an indecisive person that I couldn't decide what I wanted.  The other problem is that my windows were so tall.  It is hard to find curtains long enough.  I kept finding cute cream panels but with 5 children, cream is not very practical.  I'd be washing those things constantly.
I asked Cala if she could bring her sewing machine when they came for Thanksgiving and help make curtains.  This really translated into, Cala will you make my curtains.  My mother-in-law was so sweet and make all six panels.  We ended up buying already made curtains from Pier 1 Imports then adding a panel at the bottom. We put a sage green ribbon with another brown ribbon on top of that where the two different panels met.  I think they are fabulous.
It was a little tricky because none of the panels were are wide as they were supposed to be so Cala and Clark had to unstitch a lot of fabric.  They ended up being way more work than I had thought.  I guess I should have realized that, but I love them.  I finally have some privacy at night.  The curtains also help tone down my very yellow walls.
This was a huge project.  Thanks Cala.

Thanksgiving 2011

Megan is now 5 months old and getting big fast.  She is rolling all over the place.

I'm always trying to get a picture of her smiling because she's such a happy baby but I never seem to be able to capture her smiling.  I finally got one of her.
I saw these cute turkeys on a blog and wanted to try to make them.  They are out of silk flowers and felt.  Josh and Kade help me make them.
Aren't they cute.  We glued them onto shower curtain rings to make napkin holders out of them.
Here is our table for Thanksgiving.

Cala and Clark joined us for Thanksgiving.  We had a great time.
Kade was dying to eat the drumstick.  He got ahold of it before Josh.

We set up our tree Thanksgiving weekend.  Only Grace and Kade helped decorate this year.  The other boys weren't all that interested this year.  Looks good.  I miss the days when all the balls were clustered in one spot on the tree.  They were pretty good at spreading the decorations out this year.

Josh is 11

I can't believe that Josh is now 11.  No more cub scouts for him.  Time just seems to fly.
On Halloween, my friend, Mary, made these sports cakes for Josh for his birthday.  They were so cute.  After we went trick or treating, we had cake and ice cream.  Nice way to finish off a sugar filled day.

Well it's official.  Josh is the last birthday of the year and I didn't do a single birthday party for my kids again this year.  Bad momma.  Josh did invite three of his buddies over on his birthday after school but that's as close to a party as we got.  Perhaps I should put kid birthday parties down as one of my New Year's Resolutions this year.

Happy Birthday Josh.
